Oxford City Council has identified that it will have difficulty in meeting its own identified housing needs and has, therefore, asked the other Oxfordshire authorities to assist in the provision of housing.
This showed that around 15,000 additional homes need to be planned for outside of Oxford, split across neighbouring authorities. Recognising Chalgrove Airfield’s potential to help meet this need as a large, previously developed site, South Oxfordshire District Council has included a draft allocation (STRAT 9 – Land at Chalgrove Airfield) for 3,000 homes in its draft Local Plan.
Of the proposed 3,000 new homes, Homes England have committed to providing 40% affordable homes. That is 1,200 homes that will be below market prices. Our mixed development will offer a range of flats and houses to accommodate first time buyers, families, and everyone in between.
